Dr. Robert Kissell
Dr. Kissell is currently an Assistant Professor in
the School of Forest Resources at the University of
Arkansas – Monticello (UAM). Additionally he is
a member of the Arkansas Forest Resources Center (AFRC),
a University of Arkansas Center of Excellence. During
the last 3 years at UAM Dr. Kissell has been responsible
for teaching courses in the Spatial Information Systems
Program that include Introduction to GIS, GPS, and Remote
Sensing, Spatial Statistics, Remote Sensing, and Advanced
GIS II.
Dr. Kissell has been actively involved with geospatial
technology since 1988. Through the AFRC he has applied
geospatial technology to wildlife ecology research.
He has been involved in the application of aerial thermal
infrared imaging (ATIRI) to estimate white-tailed deer
densities and research of the precision of population
estimators based on ATIRI. He is also interested in
the relationships between spectral data and nutrition
of selected plants for the management of wildlife.
Dr. Kissell has been a member of the GIS, Remote Sensing,
and Telemetry Working Group of The Wildlife Society
since 1998. Additionally he served as the Chair of the
Membership Committee of the GIS, Remote Sensing, and
Telemetry Working Group of The Wildlife Society from
1998-1999. He also is currently a member of the Arkansas
GIS Users Forum.
